So this weekend I went out location hunting for Indy, and wouldn't you know it, took a little detour. Lovely day - headed down to the river delta at Antioch for a change of pace...
Wasn't aware of a ferry service. I wonder if that is a private vessel?
Antioch bridge and the ubiquitous power lines in the background. I was reliably informed that the fish were not hungry that day, but was sure to tread softly on those wooden boards.
Took a few more pictures on the parking lot and headed out again - and discovered this:
Well hot dang! I never knew there was a museum there! Only open on Wed and Sat 1-4pm, and here I was with camera, Indy, and the clock at 2pm. How could I resist? As long as they allowed photography inside it was on!
Apparently this building was the very first High School in the county (Contra Costa) and opened around 1910. Ah, what more perfect setting for a professor of history (part time)!
Inside was a veritable movie set! Many of the rooms were laid out in a theme, and I was able to get some lovely shots of Indy in period setting. Living room...
Dining room...
Bedroom...
Ah home from home - the library!
There were other goodies there - this signed statue from Lord of the Rings - "Hey Michael!! Many thanks for your great work!! Cheers, Peter Jackson" Gift to Micheal Semanick who also received an Oscar for sound work on The Return of the King. (Oops I forgot to photograph the Oscar! Was more impressed by MJ's signature lol!)
The museum, run by the Antioch Historical Society, was also staging a special exhibit on vintage toys.
Soon Indy was back in his childhood, dreaming of great toys!
Wow! Great weathering on these earth-moving trucks - and all obtained naturally!
Indy was able to obtain plans for the huge radio-contolled plane, and will be taking them along as a souvenir of his visit!
I hope you enjoyed this little excursion, and while perhaps not as thrilling as Indy-by-a-famous landmark, it seemed entirely appropriate and happened quite by accident!
Got dragged out by the family to a track meet in Vallejo California, so I took Indy along anyway! (Corbus Field at Vallejo High School.) Front row seats!
Of course, Indy could not resist seeing if he still 'had it'. After all, these High School runners are a lot safer than boulders or water! Looks like he's doing pretty well!
Today Indy visits Treasure Island, and a building that should look very familiar.!
If I press on those two fine specimens, a secret chamber opens up, right?
Ah the Bay bridge, leading to San Francisco!
The street is appropriately called Avenue of the Palms
Golden Gate Bridge and Alcatraz off in the distance.
Look over here!
Whoaa!
Indy contemplates the new section of the Bay Bridge under construction.
Had some help today:
Indy poses with MDP78
The 3 amigos!
Will the real Traveling Indy please stand up!
I liked the Traveling Indy custom so much I made a clone. Then MDP78 wanted one too!
